Services
and Fees
At Holistic Home Birth I make every effort to keep my costs low and my rates affordable. I think it is a great tragedy when a woman has to sacrifice the birth she desires,
simply because she cannot afford it!

I do accept insurance. Most PPO plans will cover a large portion of my fees, and I have even had some success
with HMOs and CHP+.  I also offer terrific cash, early pay-off, and millitary discounts.

Please feel free to call or email me with any specific questions about insurance compensation and fees.

The following is included with your midwifery fees:

   -
One hour prenatal office visits every 3 weeks from 12 to 28 weeks, every 2 weeks from 28 to 36 weeks, one home visit at 37 weeks, and
once each week from then until birth.
At each prenatal appointment we will monitor the following: blood pressure, pulse, weight, urinalysis,
nutrition, fetal growth, position and heart rate, as well as your over all well being!

   -
Initial lab work will be typically drawn in my office at 12 weeks gestation. I do the draw myself and submit it to the Penrose Reference
Laboratory. This includes a complete blood count, blood typing, and a complete metabolic panel to ensure your overall health.

    -
Additional blood work included is also performed in office at 28 weeks to rule out gestational diabetes and anemia. Glucose Tolerance Tests are
rarely necessary, though also available. Group Beta Strep screening is offered at 36 weeks, though I offer literature to help you decide if this test is
right for you. I also include the
PKU metabolic screen for your one week old newborn.

    -
Complete care during your birth is covered. I will arrive when you feel like you need support and stay with you until about 2-3 hours after
baby has been born. I bring oxygen, antihemmorhagic remedies, and resuscitation equipment. I will bring a skilled assistant with me .

You will have a few inexpensive supplies to obtain, though most of them will be every-day household items.

     -
Waterbirth is always free! I have a water proof doppler and shoulder length gloves to assist you in having a safe, comfortable experience.
I have one labor pool which is included at no additional expense for my clients, though upgraded pools are available for rent as well.
All my tubs are listed on my
waterbirth page.

     -
One hour postpartum visits, the first 2 are on the first and third day postpartum and take place in your home. We will then schedule you
and your baby for check-ups at 1 week, 3 weeks and 6 weeks postpartum to monitor weight gain and over all health.

    -
I am a licensed massage therapist and include for all of my clients one free massage. You may use this before or after your birth, or use it
instead as a training session to learn infant massage for your baby!

    -
I also have a Degree in Naturopathic Medicine, and include with your care expert advice on nutrition, helpful herbs and dietary
supplements.I create many of my own tinctures and sitz bath formulas; which will be made welcome to you.

     -
Access to my extensive lending library, including both educational books and videos. I also have a Lending Wardrobe, full of a beautiful
selection of maternity clothes, donated by past clients, which you are more than welcome to peruse!

     -
Ultrasound can be performed in-office, if desired. You can have just one or multiple scans. We can see a heartbeat at 8 weeks and gender at 20.
       Video (DVD) and pictures included!

     -
Well-woman exam and a PAP smear is offered at your 6 week postpartum appointment. I use a thin-prep PAP solution and submit it to the
Penrose-Centura Cytology Lab for analysis. I offer a deep discount on this service in the future, to encourage regular exams.

     -
An Organic goody bag is given to you at your 24 hour postpartum home-visit. The contents vary, but are all home-made, organic baby products,
sitz bath, teas, ointments, etc...which I make in my "spare" time.
